Review: Shimmer Lake (2017)

A new Netflix original film, 'Shimmer Lake', has been released. Being very recent, it has few reviews and even fewer positive ones. On the contrary, I thought that Oren Uziel (writer and directer, also known for 22 Jump Street) should be given more credit. The film was well casted, and minimalistic where due, despite its complex story line and narrative structure. It was focused, entertaining, and structural, which are highly valuable qualities in dramas. Told in reverse, it is certainly enticing. The film, though perhaps not a mind-blowing masterpiece, would surely make my list of recommendations for a movie night; and I hope that as more people discover it, more enjoy it.
